KT1 Fundamental Concepts, Screening/Muscle Test, & Muscle Applications (To be taken in conjunction with KT2) The KT1 course is designed to introduce the Kinesio Taping® Method.
Learn the fundamental concepts of the Kinesio Taping® Method and the unique properties and use of Kinesio® Tex Tape. Lab sessions provide ample time to practice screening and muscle testing created for the enhancement of your KT skills and muscle applications for both the upper and lower body. Upon completion of KT1, participants will be able to apply the Kinesio Taping® Method to relax overuse syndromes, stimulate weak muscles and decrease pain and swelling.
KT2 Advanced Concepts & Corrective Techniques Upon completion qualifies for KTA Level 2 Membership
KT2 builds on material learned in KT1. Learn about the six Corrective Techniques (Mechanical, Functional, Space, Fascia, Ligament/Tendon and Lymphatic) and discuss their application in a variety of clinical conditions. Lab sessions, provide ample time to practice applying these techniques to a variety of upper and lower body conditions. Upon completion of KT2, participants will be able to discuss and apply the KT Method to orthopedic & neurological conditions.
Note: Participants who successfully complete the required Fundamental and Advanced Kinesio Taping® (KT1, KT2, & KT3) courses are eligible to take the Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP) exam through the KinesioTaping Association (KTAI). Upon passing this exam with a score of 80% or better, practitioners will be granted the CKTP title along with all the associated rights and benefits.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, including the lecture, demonstration and lab, the participant will be able to:
- Explain and apply the concepts of the Kinesio Taping Method.
- Describe the unique qualities of the Kinesio Tex® Tape.
- Understand the principles of Kinesio Tex® Tape application.
- Utilize and demonstrate application skills in guided laboratory sessions.
- Describe the various cutting techniques and their clinical applications.
- Apply a time-efficient method to decrease muscle spasm, pain and swelling.
- Apply various taping techniques for treatment of the spine and upper / lower extremity dysfunction.

Our Certified Kinesiotaping Instructors Include:

Graceann G. Forrester PT, DPT, CKTI is a New York State licensed Physical Therapist. She has earned Bachelor's degrees from College Miseracordia, Dallas PA and New York University. She completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy through Boston University.
In her 20 years of practice, Dr. Forrester has provided treatment programs for acute care patients, for community hospicare and youth correctional facilities. She has offered PT to elementary school children and taught clinical application classes for Ithaca College's Physical Therapy program, Ithaca, NY. She uses her Certifications as a KinesioTaping Instructor, Personal Trainer and Pilates Instructor to develop training regimens for competitive athletes of all ages. As a Board Member of Hope Unites, an “international ecumenical organization specializing in humanitarian aid and disaster relief”, Dr. Forrester has offered educational programming to improve transportation and therapeutic positioning for children with disabilities at an orphanage in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
Internationally, Dr. Forrester serves as the Curriculum Chair, for the KinesioTaping Association –of the Americas: Board of Education. She continues to teach Kinesiotaping certification courses across the United States and Europe. She resides in NY with her husband and four children.
Teresa Juodawlkis Pesci, MPT, CKTI,
received her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of California: San Francisco. She has worked at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, California, the William Beaumont Rehab Center in Birmingham, Michigan, the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, and at the University of Michigan - Visiting Nurses. She is currently the PT Assistant Manager at the Abilities Center, a branch of the Detroit Institute for Children. Her interest areas are the birth to three population, infant massage, yoga for the special child and therapeutic taping. She has practiced in the following settings: inpatient, acute rehab, PICU, outpatient, interdisciplinary clinics (NICU follow-up, Movement Disorders, Spina Bifida, Hemophilia, and JRA), school and home. Mrs. Pesci has been using a variety of taping practices throughout her career which has focused primarily on pediatrics. She is a certified Kinesio Taping instructor through the Kinesio Taping Association.
Rosemary Schrauth, OTR, CLT, CKTI
is a clinician and educator at Cedar Haven Rehabilitation Services in WI. She specializes in myofascial release and lymphedema treatment. Rosemary has taken many courses in myofascial release, other soft tissue techniques and kinesiotaping and successfully incorporates these techniques into the treatment of edema and lymphedema. Ms. Schrauth became a certified lymphedema therapist in 1998 and a certified kinesiotaping instructor in 2003 and updated in 2008. She presents courses nationally on MFR, Manual Edema Mobilization and Kinesiotaping. She has been a guest speaker at Mount Mary College and Concordia University and a visiting clinical instructor at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She has written articles on the use of kinesiotape in the treatment of lymphedema.
Amy Stahl, MS, PT, CKTI. Amy Stahl received her Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in 1994 from the University of Arizona and her Master's in Physical Therapy from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1997.
Amy presently is a private practice owner of an outpatient orthopedic clinic and has had tremendous success with Kinesio® Taping clinically, with wide acceptance in the medical community. She also had the wonderful opportunity to go to the first International Kinesio® Taping Symposium in 1999 and was privileged to teach Kinesio® Taping seminars in Singapore and Malaysia.
Kim Rock Stockheimer, MS, OTR/L, CKTI. Kim is a 1984 graduate of the University of Kansas Occupational Therapy Program. She received her Masters of Science degree in Exercise Physiology 2002 at the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse. She has had opportunities to work in a variety of settings including hospital acute care, rehabilitation, long-term care, burn unit, outpatient hand therapy, private practice, and lymphedema clinic. She has taught in Occupational Therapy Assistant programs at Austin Minnesota and at Anoka Minnesota. She has taught at the Occupational Therapy Department at the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse. She has published articles and research in the Occupational Therapy Forum, American Journal of Occupational Therapy, Journal of Hand Therapy, and British Lymphology Book of Abstracts. Kim co-authored the book, Kinesio Taping for Lymphoedema and Chronic Swelling. Kim is certified in Manual Lymphatic Treatment by the Lymphedema Services of Cedar Haven Rehabilitation Agency. She is also certified as a Kinesio® Taping Practitioner and Instructor by the Kinesio® Taping Association. Kim currently holds a seat on the Kinesio Taping Education Board. Kim has lectured internationally in England, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Japan, Korea, Canada and Russia.
Jim Wallis, ATC, MS, CKTI. Jim Wallis graduated from Washington State University in 1983 and then received his Certified Athletic Trainer designation from NATA. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the school of Community Health and Head Athletic Trainer for Portland State University. He has been working with the Kinesio® Taping Method since first being introduced to the technique in Japan in the fall of 1994. Jim has led instructor workshops in the USA, Portugal, Italy, Belgium, and Australia. He has presented twice at the International Kinesio® Taping Association Symposium in Tokyo, Japan, and was recognized in 2000 for his distinguished service as an Instructor of the Kinesio® Taping Method. In 2003 he co-wrote Clinical and Therapeutic Applications of the Kinesio® Taping Method with Dr. Kenzo Kase and Tsuyoshi Kase. Recently, he began work in Japan on a DVD about combining the Kinesio® Taping Method with traditional athletic taping methods.
Andrea Wolkenberg, PT, MA, CKTI. Andrea has been a practicing physical therapist for almost 32 years. She graduated in 1979 from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Allied Medical Professions with a Bachelor's degree in physical therapy. She also holds a Master's degree in Medical Anthropology in 1986 from the New School for Social Research in New York City. In 2001, Andrea became a Certified Kinesio Taping Instructor.
Although she has spent many years in sub-acute and long term care, her clinical expertise is in manual therapy, having taken numerous continuing education courses with James Cyriax, Laurence Jones, John Mennell, Shirley Sahrmann, Stanley Paris, John Barnes, an many others. She is currently the Director of Physical Therapy at Spine Options, a pain management center in White Plains, NY, specializing in the conservative treatment of back and neck pain. She is also the President of SPINE SOLVERS INC., her own company which provides physical therapy services to individuals, injury prevention and workplace safety seminars to businesses, and Kinesio Taping seminars to health care professionals.
