KT3 KinesioTaping® Course with Extended Focus on Pediatrics/Neuro (Pre-requisite, completion of KTA approved KT1 and KT2 courses).
Therapeutic taping is an invaluable tool that can be used to facilitate and relax muscles as well as to reduce pain and improve biomechanical alignment. In this two day course on Kinesio® Taping (KT3) for Pediatrics/Neuro, you will discover how taping can apply to a variety of pediatric clients. Although the course has a pediatric focus, many of the applications are also effective in treating the adult neurologically involved client.
The course will be comprised of lecture material, case studies and treatment demonstrations but will be primarily focused on practical applications for use with pediatric clients. This course is appropriate for PTs and OTs who would like to have a more advanced understanding of pediatric Kinesio Taping® for immediate application into the clinical setting.
What you will learn:
- How to determine when taping is appropriate for pediatric clients
- How to use taping as an adjunct to traditional and manual techniques
- How to incorporate taping into more effective home programs
What you will do:
- Explore the pediatric applications of Kinesio Tape®
- Practice applying Kinesio Tape® for a variety of pediatric purposes
- Experience Kinesio Tape® being applied on yourself
- Problem solve how to evaluate and effectively treat pediatric clients
Note: Participants who successfully complete the required Fundamental and Advanced Kinesio Taping® (KT1, KT2, & KT3) courses are eligible to take the Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP) exam through the KinesioTaping Association (KTAI). Upon passing this exam with a score of 80% or better, practitioners will be granted the CKTP title along with all the associated rights and benefits.
KT1/KT2 are prerequisite for this course.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this lecture and lab on Kinesio Taping for Pediatrics, participants will be able to:
- Identify the major clinical implications for pediatric taping.
- describethe difference between taping for facilitation and taping for relaxation when using Kinesio Tape.
- explain how and when to use Kinesio Tape for various corrective techniques in pediatrics.
- Experience applying tape on a partner and having tape applied to oneself on lower extremities, trunk and upper extremities.
- Problem solve practical applications of therapeutic taping via case studies and treatment demonstrations.
What you will need:
- Pediatric Kinesio Taping book
- Lab clothes (halter tops and loose fitting shorts or two piece bathing suits work best)
- Sharp scissors for cutting tape
- Blankets, towels and/or pillows (for your own comfort during lab)
- Kinesio Tape (will be supplied for you at the course)

Teresa Juodawlkis Pesci, MPT, CKTI,
received her Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of California: San Francisco. She has worked at Lucile Salter Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford in Palo Alto, California, and the William Beaumont Rehab Center in Birmingham, Michigan. She currently works at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland as a senior physical therapist and provides home PT services through the Child and Family Support Program. Her interest areas are the birth to three population, infant massage, yoga for the special child and therapeutic taping. Mrs.
Pesci has been using a variety of taping practices throughout her career which has focused exclusively on pediatrics. She is a certified Kinesio®Taping instructor through the Kinesio® Taping Association.
