Introductory to intermediate level online lecture course is designed for the occupational therapist and the occupational therapy assistant. Expand your knowledge of low vision with an overview of signs, symptoms, causes and treatment; rehabilitation approaches to specific low vision symptoms such as glare, depth perception, contrast and color visual deficits. Learn to enhance remaining vision with the use of low vision tools including magnifiers, filters, closed circuit television (CCTV), and adaptive strategies and training for daily occupations. Review community resources, internet sites and equipment vendors.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- define low vision and list some of the challenges of working with people with low vision.
- recognize the World Health Organization’s (WHO) levels of visual impairments.
- identify common low vision tools that are used in therapy and daily life.
- identify rehabilitation interventions using adaptive strategies needed for training and education.

Mo Johnson, MS, OTR/L has been an occupational therapist since 1990 specializing in adult neurological rehabilitation. She obtained her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University in 2001.
She developed her Occupational Therapy knowledge and honed her skills at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center from 1990-1994. She served as a Community Rehabilitation Therapist for the Peace Corps in Paraguay from 1994 to 1996 and returned to Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center working as a Clinical Specialist/Educator from 1997-1999.
Currently, she is a clinician at Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego, CA where she has practiced since 2000. Mo has presented nationally and internationally on numerous topics such as management of adult brain injury, cerebral vascular accidents, constraint-induced movement therapy, spasticity management, spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis. Mo is also a guest lecturer for Upper Extremity Rehabilitation at St. Augustine University, San Diego Campus.
