This chapter explores the effects of aging on physical, physiological, functional and psychological status of the older adult and identifies changes associated with aging that may influence the appropriateness and effectiveness of hand  therapy. The goals of this chapter are to sensitize hand therapists to the process of aging and to promote clinical efficacy with older clients. Clinical tips with adaptive treatment strategies and precautions are given. Three extensive case studies are provided.
