Refresher LAB for UE and Functional Splinting

Back to "UE and Functional Splinting"

This optional pre-workshop splinting lab is offered for occupational and physical therapists who want to gain confidence and enhance skills and techniques for handling splinting materials and mobilization splinting components. This hands-on refresher workshop promotes skill development through intensive hands-on lab experience fabricating dynamic and static progressive splints. This refresher course provides splint fabrication only—principles of splinting, selection of appropriate splints, indications and contraindications will be addressed in the two day workshop following the refresher course. This workshop can only be taken in combination with a two-day workshop program on the same weekend.

Each course participant will have the opportunity to fabricate:

  • Hand based single digit MP Phoenix™ extension splint using spring tension
  • Hand based single digit MP flexion splint using static progressive tension (Click-strip™)

Knowledge of these splints is a pre-requisite for the weekend workshop.

Class size is limited to 16 therapists to allow for maximum personalized instruction.

Please bring along splinting scissors, small goniometer, a tape measure, and flat head screwdriver--  labeled with your name.

Participants are cautioned to apply new information and skills within the scope of state licensure law.
