Basics for Hand Splinting: ReFresher for UE and Post-Surgical Splinting

For occupational therapists, physical therapists, hand therapists, and OT/PT assistants with basic splinting skills. A basic knowledge of splint fabrication is required. 

Program:

Optional, pre-course hands-on splinting refresher course -- designed for the less experienced splint maker who would like to brush up on splinting techniques and material handling skills before beginning the intensive weekend course "UE and PostSurgical Splinting". In order to attend "Basics of Hand Splinting" you must also register for "UE and Postsurgical Splinting" (same weekend, same location). This refresher course is a hands-on splinting lab session only!

Basics of Hand Splinting: A Hands-On Refresher Course:

Learn to fabricate these splints, through splint demonstrations and splinting labs

  • Functional Position Volar Pan Resting Splint
  • Thumb-hole Wrist Extension Splint
  • Hand Based Gauntlet Thumb Spica Splint
  • Digit Based PIP Figure-8 Splint

Please bring along splinting scissors, small goniometer and a tape measure, small pliers, and flat head screwdriver-- labeled with your name.
